Child Safety Standards

GatherUp is a social meetup app for adults. These published standards describe how GatherUp prohibits and responds to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). They apply to the GatherUp mobile apps and website.

1. Age requirement

GatherUp is for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts or use the Service. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it and delete associated personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Zero tolerance for CSAE and CSAM

GatherUp strictly prohibits:

• Any content, conduct, or solicitation involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of minors (CSAE).
• Creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, or linking to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including real, fictional, or AI-generated depictions.
• Grooming, sexualizing minors, or attempting to arrange contact with a minor for sexual purposes.
• Using GatherUp to facilitate any of the above, on or off the platform.

Violations result in immediate content removal, account suspension or permanent ban, and reporting to the appropriate authorities where required by law.

3. In-app reporting

Users can report child safety concerns and other policy violations without leaving the app:

• Event chat: long-press a message → Report → choose a reason (including sexual content / self-harm / other).
• Direct messages: open the chat header info sheet → Report.
• Block: users can block another person; enforcement is mutual and applied server-side.

Reports go to a human moderation queue. You can also email support@gatherup.site with the subject line “Child safety”.

4. How we respond

When GatherUp obtains actual knowledge of CSAE or CSAM, we:

• Remove the content and restrict or terminate the responsible account(s).
• Preserve evidence as required for lawful investigations.
• Report confirmed CSAM to the relevant regional or national authority (for example, NCMEC CyberTipline where applicable, or the competent authority in the jurisdiction where we operate).
• Cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

5. Moderation and enforcement

GatherUp reviews user reports through an admin moderation workflow. We may also take proactive action based on signals we receive. Actions include content removal, warnings, temporary suspension, permanent bans, and forced logout of banned accounts. Event chat is scoped to booked attendees; 1:1 messages require mutual post-event consent — there is no open anonymous chat.
